Ownership History
With a keen interest in improving rural broadband connectivity, Evan Schroeder began installing and diagnosing internet in the Kleefeld area in 2004 just after graduating high school. By 2005, Evan was installing for Xplornet using their fixed wireless platform.
In 2012, Chris Teetaert joined Evan Schroeder and they began to provide technical support and on site expertise to a company called Chill Communications, and in late Fall of 2013, the Chill client base was purchased by Chris and Evan, and merged with the new Swift High Speed to launch formally in February of 2014. Swift acquired roughly half of the No Limits Internet Solutions network in Fall of 2016 and in early 2020 Swift acquired Oak Networks and 3T Systems.
To keep up with the sharp increase in bandwidth demands, in 2019 Swift High Speed began deploying fibre optic cables throughout their network to connect their fixed wireless towers and in 2020 they rolled out even more Fibre to the Home connections. In the Fall of 2021, Swift High Speed split in half, with the internet operations being sold to Xplornet and the staff and construction equipment forming a new business called "Swift Underground". This crew has been connecting hundreds of kilometers and thousands of customers to improved rural high speed services and is excited to continue in that work for Xplornet's new FTTH investments in our region.
From inception, quality of installation has been paramount! Our staff were keen on installing fibre optic telecom equipment at the highest standards to date, ensuring customer impact was low, safety was high, and the work was completed on time and on budget. Today that standard hasn't changed and our staff strive to improve processes and shorten the timelines on repair and restoration. We're local in Manitoba and we take great pride in being supportive of our communities and local governments.
